She did it…she turned one. My baby. We had a fun, crazy day. Mondays are so busy with piano lessons and tennis that we didn’t get to the park for her big celebration until it was dark. And I forgot the party hats. But Lucy didn’t seem to mind.

Grace got burned from grabbing the candle on her cake when she turned one. She dotes over the pictures from that day six years ago and feels so sorry for her poor baby-self. So she was on that Lucy like a hawk so that the same thing wouldn’t happen to her little sister.
Lucy took her cake eating very seriously.
(So did Grace…her own cake eating I mean.)

I told the kids the day before to go pick something from the playroom they thought Lucy would like and wrap it up for her. Hey, some toys need to be rediscovered. She was completely delighted with what they picked.
You can tell she’s overjoyed to be taking these pictures, but this is what we do with every child each year on their birthday. I think it’ll be a fun way to watch us all get older through the years.
