Summer has been crazy. Every day feels like we are frantically running from one thing to the next. From visitors to home projects to pool parties to get-aways…packing, un-packing, re-packing…it feels like we haven’t stopped for a minute.

But most mornings have been the same. Some mornings it feels like it’s groundhog day over and over and over again.

I pull Max and Elle out of bed at 7:00.

They (along with a group of friends) leave on their bikes for swim team at 7:15.

I take Grace over at 8:20 for her own swim team and we wave at Max and Elle who are on their way home as we speed along trying to get there in time.

Then I rush home to try to get the morning stuff cleaned up, Lucy’s eyes pried apart after their ritual goopiness, change diapers, do dishes, help make beds, etc. before I race back to pick Grace up on time.
Check out how un-swim-meet-ready Grace is…Dave and I were laughing looking at all those others garbed with their goggles and swim caps. Then there’s Grace fresh from her bed…no wet practice hair for her. She was the one who’s parents couldn’t get their acts together to get her there on time. But hey, she knew no different and was happy as a clam to go retrieve her big red ribbon. I for one LOVE swim team. Max and Grace aren’t too sure they agree with me but Elle sure does!

  1. I hear you on the groundhog day thing. We do swim team too. I have a love hate relationship with it. But it keeps them busy, makes them tired everyday and is great sport and exercise. I love cheering them on at the swim meets. I love seeing my boys little butts in their swim jammers. too cute!

  2. I too LOVE swim team. It’s the best part of our summer since it gets us up and moving (though not too early). Trey swims at 10:15 and Josh and Matt at 11:00 PM. Just enough time to sleep in a bit and do some homework before.

I love the photos of your kids swimming. You are SO talented. I am always wrestling my girls during the meets, so I’m lucky to get one decent picture of each boy and it’s usually so far away I have to crop it down so you can see it really is my child. Oh well. Thankfully I get a second chance for a better shot every Wednesday night.
