When I was in elementary school I was the shyest kid on the block. And I was and even bigger worrier than I am now. Did I have all my homework done? Was my new hairdo I created by plastering a weird little curl to each of my cheeks with a bunch of hairspray going to stay in? Was I going to get picked on to read in front of the classroom again? (I was a horrible reader.)

Each Sunday night I’d get sick. No, not the coughing, sore throat kind of sick. It was more the dark, sick-to-my-stomach feeling inside. I didn’t want to go back to school. I dreaded it.

I’m feeling that exact same feeling tonight. I’m dreading tomorrow. School and schedules have given us freedom for too long…and I really liked it. I’m trying to gear myself up for carpools and practicing and meetings and photoshoots and real life.

We did some really fun stuff while we were off. I’ll write about our two little get-aways tomorrow, but here are some of the other holiday highlights.

Velveteen Rabbit field trip with Claire’s preschool:
Girls’ Night Out to see the Nutcracker with my Mom & Julie:Max & Elle’s Christmas strings recital:Backrub chains:
Girls breakfast:
Piano recital:(Max and Elle played an awesome duet.)Gracie and I played one too:
So at the end Lu and her new little friend decided they’d do a duet too:We got to share it all with my amazing parents:
Elle took this picture I liked:
My brother and his wife came to visit one night en route to their other in-law Christmas plans…serious Boggle and Scrabble games amidst the kids loving being together:
Dave’s sis. and her family were here too and we got to hang with them a little…I wish I had pictures of that. At least I got Ava & Claire.
We hung out quite a bit with Dave’s parents and another sister who were in town.
Max is just about to pass up his Aunt in height.Great friends from BYU were here too. It seems like we were either sleeping somewhere else or had someone extra sleeping here every single night. And as busy as it was, we got some serious family time. I’m just sad it’s all over!

  1. I can totally relate to this feeling. I’ve been seriously so close to tears all day thinking that this wonderful time — lots of time — with the children is coming to the end. Even though we’ve been dealing with a sick husband/dad the whole time, it has been totally awesome just being together. School really gets in the way of our fun! 🙂 Hang in there with everything. (PS I am sending you a Christmas card. We got majorly delayed with my husband getting sick so it will be more of a New Years card with a Christmas background. Loved your card! You guys are so cute!)
