I got to take pictures of such a cute family a couple weeks ago. They are true horse people. I think the mom and dad even met doing rodeos. Their kids know how to handle a horse like nobody’s business.
And these kids…man oh man check out these eyes!
The only problem was, I just couldn’t stop!
But really, can you blame me?
We didn’t catch too much of this new sleepy one’s eyes, but I’m sure they’ll be just as expressive as his big brother and sis…lucky for him!
He was SO sweet.
And man his family sure loves him.
I hate when I can’t decide between sepia…

Oh I know this cute family!! I am in love with the pictures you took of them! I am so bummed to hear you are not doing more sessions this year, I was so looking forward to having you take some of our new baby girl this Spring! Bummer! But with that being said, I am so glad you are taking time for your family right now. They need you! You have been in my thoughts!

how do you do that with the eyes? I’ve been trying to get that and i just can seem to. What am i doing wrong?? these pictures are just so so lovely.

Jill, I don’t do anything specific with the eyes. I just up the exposure and the blacks in the whole picture and it kind of makes the color pop. I think having a crisp lens and good light is what makes a difference with the eyes.
so do you up the exposure in photoshop or while your shooting? I always feel like I’m going to make my subject looked washed out. You pictures never look washed out. I guess I will just have to keep experimenting. thanks for responding to that 🙂

You are so nice to get back to me already — our mutual “dates” are (I think) Kurt Christensen and Nate Pugsley. Maybe I am totally wrong, and if so, who cares? We moved from Maryland to North Carolina in November, but before that were in the Bay Area while Chris finished grad school. We’ve only been done since June ’05. Chris says hi back.

Those are gorgeous pictures!!! I love it!
Man, we love these fab fotos! So different with the horses for the backdrop! As you know we kind of have a soft spot for horses too! Amazing color and I LOVE the sepia with the little guy with the gear in the background too! That last one is just a treasure!
