This year we came to Utah and Bear Lake with dear friends from home. They stayed with us for a couple days in Park City, then a couple days at Bear Lake.

(Beware of getting carpel tunnel on this post because man oh man there are a BUNCH of pictures.)
I love these guys with all my heart. Claudia’s the “Mom #2” for Lucy I always talk about (Lucy’s best friend) and they have four little girls our girls’ ages which is good with everyone…except for Max. Poor boy. But he was a good sport about being an “adult” with us and he got some pretty good staying- up-late-to-play-games-with-us privileges because of it.

Park City was actually more like being in the Swiss Alps this year though because of all the rain they’ve had. Man alive, it was SO green. Which equals up to some serious beauty.

We did the “Alpine Coaster” (our favorite):

We weren’t supposed to take pictures but I HAD to sneak one while it was pulling Claire and I up. That’s Elle and Isabel racing by:We ran into so many people we knew up there. I guess this stuff attracts everyone and their dog on a holiday weekend. This is my sis-in-laws sister’s family:
Such a small world. We had to compete with black storm clouds for the Alpine Slide (you can’t ride when it’s rainy). So we had to come back the second day to do that one.
But it was worth it.
This is one of my favorite pictures (above). Lucy and Claire meeting each other at the top. You can’t really tell so much from the picture, but man oh man those guys get excited to see each other when they’ve been away from each other for, say, five minutes…

Some more great friends we met up with: the Z family. They moved to Utah a while back.

We miss them.

Back at the house Elle and her friend took some amazing nature walks. They found a secret meadow chock full of flowers. They were in Heaven. …and so was I. I mean, who wouldn’t be when you’re surrounded by things like this:

My Dad took us on a “15 minute” hike up to “Narnia Canyon.” (Yes, he named it himself, and no, it wasn’t 15 minutes…more like an hour and a half. But oh so worth it!)I have about 164 pictures of the gorgeous nature we saw up there……but for anyone reading this’s sake I’ll just include a few…
It was kinda romantic up there. We also did a little horseback riding.
I loved the lighting in the barn.
Lucy, true to form with all animals, LOVES horses. And we all know how much she adores dogs.…and maybe some day we’ll get here one…I mean, who can turn down this face?

I love my Dad. So do my kids.

We went to the big Oakley Rodeo.
Boy howdy, do they ever know how to ride up there.
And you can’t beat a rodeo followed by big fireworks.

I love Utah in the summer.

  4. I cannot believe how gorgeous it is up there! I don't think I would know what to do with all that actual green color surrounding me!! As always, LOVE your pictures and miss those kids!!

  5. I am so grateful for blogs, that is how we get to check up on you guys, I think the last time we saw your kiddies is like 5 years ago…..its crazy how big they all are! Max is like Kyle, we have tons of cousins and friends the same age as Chyna and Tysen, and Kyle gets to hang with us adults, the oldest one always has to grow up too fast, and Kyle is a senior this year and almost an adult……it's super crazy!!!!
We miss you and your awesome family, I hope to see you soon!!! Tell Max we have a buddy for him…ha ha

  6. Wow, what a fun break your family has had. I do miss Utah in the summer. The mountains are amazing and it just feels so American. I remember as a little girl going to the alpine slides and LOVING it. I wish we would have thought to take our girls there when we visited in June. We were only near for one day, so it wouldn't have worked, but oh how they would have loved it.

  7. I wonder if we were in Park City at the same time. That would have been fun to bump in to you, especially when we live so far away from each other. 🙂
