Home max football tough guy

football tough guy

by Shawni

My son is playing tackle football.

Yes, that same one (and only) who wouldn’t want to hurt a fly and who was too shy to look an adult in they eye until last year.
And I’m gonna go ahead and let you in on something I was clueless about: football isn’t like the other sports we’ve tried out around here. None of that practice once or twice a week for an hour and games on Saturday stuff. We’ve come to find out that football is serious business. Parents have to be at all practices. (Like for four to seven hours a week…I thank my lucky stars we have an awesome carpool.) They need birth certificates and approval from doctors. The boys need pads and mouth-guards. They have to be at most of the games three hours early to warm up and practice their “plays” (and I’m not exaggerating). Max comes back from practice sweating like nobody’s business.

They want my non-aggressive child to go hit people and throw them to the ground.

And guess what? He loves it.

And he’s surprised me. Check out that reach-in aggression:(He’s #19. And their team has both purple and gold on it in case that looks weird that there are three colors out there.)

And then more aggression here (he’s in the middle in an arm-lock with the blue guy):
And I love this move (he’s the one grabbing that blue guy with the ball to take him down):
Unfortunately this was the aftermath of that shot:But hey, I’m so proud of him for getting in there and working it on the field.

He’s up against guys like #92 on the right below:
Seriously, check out that kid…he is HUGE.

Max has a good cheering section on the sidelines to help him out:

Some don’t pay as much attention to the game…but at least they’re not screaming:
This is my date I get to sit by:

More aggression:
I still can’t believe my son is doing this!

I’m proud of him.
…and all these sports pros:
And I love watching David with them after the games.

He’s a good Dad.

I am glad to see Max is loving it so much!

Cooper finally got his cast off and is begging us to let him come to Friday's practice…. but his dad squashed that and says it is to early to play football on his ankle! He would be so bummed if he saw these pictures.

wow! your boy is old enough for tackle football!! Great pictures. Maybe you should blow one up into poster size and put it on his wall.. that will inspire him!!

Great photos. I know one day I'll be watching a similar game! My boys are only 4 and 1, but I do look forward to those days! Thanks for the post 🙂

I can't believe this! Dad was always WAY too chicken to let his boys play football (even though statistics show that basketball is more dangerous). I think the boys would have loved it too! I can't believe the parents have to be at the practices! Don't think we would have made it! Congrats! Max looks spectacular! He IS huge!

Yikes that kid was huge! Way to go Max football is a tough sport, and he sure seems to be holding his own.

love this. I too was shocked when my shy first born decided to play football and LOVED it.

He comes home all bruised and I cringe!

I love your family. Love.

We played football for the first time last fall and my little man was up against some HUGE kids too. That #92 is why they require birth certificates!!!
Glad he is enjoying it!
