I love that these two go to junior high together. I love it so much that it makes me mourn that I didn’t have ALL my kids 14 months apart….(just a little, teeny bit until I remember how tough that was…)
I love that their sweet relationship is blossoming even more because they share that school, and the things that go on there.
I love that Elle will tell me about everything from how some girls bring eyelash curlers to primp with after P.E. and so-and-so’s mom brought in cake for lunch, and that spurs Max to tell me more too.
I love how Elle comes home and tells stories about how kids always ask her if she’s Max’s sister. And how she overhears girls talking about how cute he is.
I’ve been looking forward to the junior high “shadow your student day” like a kid looks forward to Christmas. I love to see first-hand what my kids are up to all day without me around. Max kept sheepishly suggesting that since I went with him last year, maybe it was Elle’s turn to have a tag-along this year. I reassured him I’d be sure to spend some time with both of them, and not to worry because I’d have my arm draped around his shoulder as much as possible when I was with him. He was super excited about that. 😉
And then I realized the darn shadow your student day is smack dab in the middle of next week…when we will be far away at the National Institute of Health. Darn it. I’ll miss that little window of seeing what my kids are up to. Maybe I’ll have to sneak in and embarrass Max another day.
I am one lucky mother.
