I turned older on Monday.I’m not a big fan of getting older, but I can’t complain too much when I’m surrounded by these people I adore so much:(Dave made me my traditional b-day favorite omelets for breakfast.)

Check out their cool wrapping jobs:Friends and extended family were nice enough to take me out to lunch and a couple breakfasts, and dropped off some delicious treats.(I must note here that these cupcakes were made with a dry cake mix mixed with one can of diet soda for the batter, that’s it. Good idea, huh?)

My sweet and very thoughtful Young Women heart attacked my front yard and brought me some delicious cupcakes. My seven-year-old gave me my own treasure hunt to guide me to find her gift (Twizzlers…mmmmm):

My house looked like this all day:And I was embarrassed by driving around in this for two days:
Elle made me a delicious b-day cake, we watched my old favorite “Girls Just Want to Have Fun” all together that night.
Yes, getting older isn’t fun, but I’m so thankful for so many nice people to help ease the pain.

Love you guys.

  4. Shawni—Happy Birthday! I love your blog, thanks for sharing it! I have a question….in one of your pics in the background you have a "wall" of photos in like a collage pattern-love it! Are those shadow boxes open so you can change the photos? Or, how did you do them? Thanks!

  5. Happy Birthday, 'getting older' sure looks like fun in your home.

I wanted to say I love your word for the year. I think as mothers we are stretched so thin as we try to control and direct all in our care. To be "present" is a worthy pursuit that will, (if we can let go of all the things we have told ourselves we must do here, now and perfectly), bring us joy.
