Had to share.

******Post-edit note:

Ok, I’m sorry, that was mean to leave people hanging!  I just posted those videos on the way out the door this morning and haven’t had a chance to check the computer since.

So here are the results:

POSITIVE…

…that we are not having a baby.

Being ten days off can sure make you think about a lot though I will tell you!  Especially when you are a clockwork girl.  I had visions of the sweetest baby boy, and then scary visions of fighting BBS with another child, and then visions of watching my teenagers snuggle up and help take care of a sweet baby girl.  And then my friend who just had twins texted she hoped I’d have my own set…oh man that’s my dream.  Oh some things would be so grand.

Thanks for the sweet comments…some of them made me sure wish there were two lines on that thing!

But I did have a solemnly peaceful feeling though that we really are complete.  And all is well right here, right now for this family of ours.

  1. Hahahaha! LOL that is awesome. You you totally left us hanging. You know we people who are just flies on the wall of your life. Oh my stars! I love that "would be one special kid." That is awesome. Please post tonight or first thing tomorrow!!!

  2. Hilarious…I hope you have a spot in your new house for a new baby if needed! Ha! And seriously…if you're disappointed that it was a negative, then maybe that's a sign!

  3. I am dying!!! LOVE that he did that!! Long time reader and this is my first comment. This is just great!! I cant even imagine what was going through his head. I love the "ouch" at the end of the first video!! Either way the outcome goes, you both are fabulous!! Thanks for sharing!!

  4. well if its true, you are one lucky girl!!!!! I had one of those one in a million, she will be 17 on Halloween and she was #6 too! best surprise in the world!!!!!!

  5. Dave is hilarious, I was literally LOL'ing.

I am the caboose of 7, youngest by almost 7 years and my oldest sister is 16 years older than me. If this is truly an announcement, your baby will be so lucky and loved and will have 5 older siblings to get advice from throughout their life. I love my family, I have lots of great friends who are so wise as well.

  6. Oh, I'm dying laughing and also dying with the suspense of it all. Bet you didn't put any plans for a baby into the new house. Exciting times!

  7. Ha! That is a great post! I was a "one in a billion". My parents tell me they were in
"double pre-caution" mode…and I still showed up. (Back when drugs were over-board on dosage too) Some Souls…are just determined.

  8. No way!!! Oh…..Can't wait for part 2!!!

Dave you are too funny. LOVED that you videotaped this. I can't even imagine all the emotions you two must of been going through….

  9. Shawni! So fun! I am dying to know….
I just have to tell you that my IUD baby just turned 1 in June! She is the light of my life (aren't they all?) and came to me at a time of many challenges and stress and I know the Lord knew I needed her. We all needed her. And now I can't imagine life without her!
    If you are pregnant, CONGRATS!

  10. Longtime reader, first-time commenter: I laughed out loud over and over, half out of amusement (over your husband's video) and half out of joy for this craziness you and your family will experience. It will be wonderful to follow you along as you get another newborn and squash those IWAN cravings!

  11. I had one of those moments back in April; picked up one of those tests. Oldest is almost 15 (the only boy), youngest is 5 of 4 girls. (And we were actually fixed so I wasn't really thinking it would be positive.) But I know a family who has the same sex and ages of ours and the mom's expecting their 2nd boy next month. A little envious. Either way, I wish the best for you. What a way to document it, your funny husband!

  12. As someone who is on the verge of giving birth to a whopping surprise of a baby, I haven't felt this much suspense since the final episode of Downton Abbey. I loved hearing Dave's ruminations… How calm he is about the possibility even though you can tell it weighs heavily on his mind. Can't wait to hear an official yea or nay!

  13. I feel a little pathetic as I have checked back with your blog a few times today to see if you posted again 😉 Hope you're ok with the results…I am the same age as you and I know we are finished with our four (due to financial reasons)but I too suffer GREATLY from IWAN and would be ecstatic with our one in a million chances being positive.

You have such a lovely family. Thank you so much for everything you share on your blog. REALLY…I so appreciate how much I have learned from you. 🙂

  14. Well, the videos were hilarious, even if the test results were negative.

Do I say congrats on not having your life turned upside down? Would've been a fun surprise but what is meant to be will be.

  15. I loved this!!! Being "late" can sure cause you to run the gamut of emotions right? I think a lot of us have been there. I've even had the symptoms and everything. Then you find out you're not and your think "Whew!", then "Awww 🙁 ". Mostly it's "Whew!" though, since I am your age.

  16. ROFL. You should make Dave post videos more often (he's so funny)! Although possibly over slightly less nerve-inducing topics! It's a strange feeling to pee on that stick not really wanting a line and then to be slightly disappointed when there isn't one.

God bless the both of you for sharing this funny, lovely moment.

  17. I'm so glad you have peace! I think regardless of the tests outcome it was hilarious to post it. I think you will get a wonderful family home evening lesson from this and the story will be shared again and again as your children start their own families. It is a great lesson in making peace with possibilities before the outcome is clear, in seeing sometimes that Father has a sense of humor and will strengthen us as He sends us opportunities, and finally the peace that can come when something doesn't turn out the way you are expecting. A wonderful experience to learn from.

  18. Come on, aren't building a new house to make room for more!!! I have always thought for some reason that you would! You are so good at what you do, you shall keep on doing it!

  19. Ok so if your husband is this funny, Max needs to do something like a heartbreak video to all those girls that look over their moms' shoulders at him. I do:) Not like that is creepy or anything.

  20. Loved this! We struggled with infertility for a long time, adopted two beautiful kids, then tried IVF one more time and got twins… And I just delivered our own "one in a million" surprise Monday. Five kids in five years to a momma who didn't know if she'd ever be a momma isn't too shabby!

  21. This is so unlike your husband that I got the biggest kick out of it. Yea, Dave, it's not 99.9% effective, it's more like 97% effective, which means it's also 3% bloody ineffective.
I read ahead and so I know the results, so I will say I'm sorry, or thank goodness (whichever makes you feel better). That's the line the doctor used on me when I found out I was pregnant with my 5th baby (97% effective, 3% completely flippin' ineffective). Couldn't be happier that it was 3% flippin ineffective.

  22. I am sitting our hotel room in Lisbon laughing my head off, these videos are hilarious. My husband came in to see why I was so funny and he got a kick out of it too. Thanks Dave for the belly laugh!
