SMIC had a pretty good team. There was a lot of height and speed involved, as well as some great coaches.

I loved that Max got to know these kids and that he got to branch out from volleyball a little bit (he couldn’t play volleyball there due to eligibility stuff and he hasn’t played much basketball so this was just the right speed for him).
It was kind of funny because Max somehow kind of had his own little cheering section.
Maybe it’s because I’m his Mom, but it seemed to me like the energy in the gym went up a few notches when he was in the game. He even did some things that had the crowd laughing like this jump ball at the beginning of one of the games:
My favorite game was the one where he made 27 points.
Fun times.
So grateful for the guidance and encouragement of these great coaches:

Have you come up with your "word" for the year yet? I read through your past posts about having a word for the year and was inspired, to find my own word for the year. 2014 was hard. 2015 will be my year to "strive". Thank you for your inspiration.

I wish we had positive coaching for our boys here. It is sometimes difficult for me to watch the negativity. I am glad Max had such a great experience playing ball. And 27 pts. WOW! That's great! My son's PR is 22. He has a goal to improve with each game. I keep my own stats and when I see he is about to break his last PR, I get giddy with excitement. I'm sure people think I'm crazy- but it is so much fun for me (even though our team gets creamed every game). It is amazing that Max had the time to play basketball with the heavy load of school work too. Way to go Max! That is awesome. -Lisa
