Dave had a birthday at the very tail-end of November.
We got to celebrate with Max in town which made it extra great.

We had our traditional birthday breakfast…

…with gifts and hugs.

He was awarded a special medal from Claire…

Because let’s face it, he is the #1 Dad in the whole world 🙂

We had his favorite dinner that evening too…pot roast and mashed potatoes.

We went on an evening perfect-light bike ride.

These two had to ride the scooter since we ran out of bikes…

And then had our neighbors over for cake and ice cream.

One of whom brought him over this cute hand-made card…

No, he is NOT fifty, but we got a good laugh out of the card 😉

I know I’m a cheeseball on these posts, but as the years go by I love him more and more.  I love his deep thoughts and the deep discussions he provokes.  I love how he leads in parenting and his fierce protective nature.  I love how motivated he is when he sets his mind to something, which in turn motivates our whole family.  I love how he puts up with my crazy whims and makes my dreams into reality.  I love that he is schedule-oriented that keeps us all on track.  I love that he’s usually up for adventure and I love his sense of humor.  That he can make me belly-laugh about the funniest little things he brings up.  I love his no-nonsense get-it-done attitude and that even though I’m a fly-by-the-seat-of-my-pants kind of a girl he puts up with me.  And most of all I love his relationship with his Savior and the faith he has in the Atonement.  Because that makes all the other stuff so real.

I love that he is humble and doesn’t blab about anything…and especially doesn’t want me blabbing (much) about how great and awesome he is…that’s why I’m kind of slipping this post in between a few others.  But I just have to at least say a little.

Because he makes my world go around.

Love you babe, forever and ever.

  1. Important question, Shawni. I know y'all have a hoverboard scooter. My daughter is dying for one for Christmas. I'm so nervous about it because it is pretty expensive and now we here about fires and a possible recall. Do you know any information or advice on them. How is it working for y'all? Do you recommend them? Brand? I know that's a lot of questioning. If you don't mind it would sure help me out. Thanks so much!!! Loyal reader!

    1. I'm sorry I don't have any advice for you…Dave got ours some place in China when he was there…there's not a brand name or anything like that that I can tell. They've worked great for us but I haven't done any research on any other brands or types. Sorry I'm not much help on that!
