We started off Easter by weaving our bodies through a few obstacles of yarn strung through the house (from the Easter bunny leading to Easter baskets) to sit in the family room and finish the last part of our study of Holy Week, watch a couple of Bible videos, and I welled up with so much emotion of gratitude I could hardly say the family prayer when Dave asked me to offer it.
I was so filled with love for the opportunity to reflect on and celebrate such a sacred day to commemorate something that has changed our lives…that has made them real.
Candid pictures always seem to convey boredom in this family room of ours, but I think we were all grateful for that opportunity to sit and reflect on the true meaning of that day before we followed those strings to those baskets awaiting.

We had very unexciting Easter baskets this year at the end of those strings, but the girls were excited all the same and we snuggled in for the second day of conference.

It was really, really good.  Find links to all the talks over HERE.  Some of my favorites from the weekend are HERE, HERE, and HERE just to name a few.

We had some families over from the neighborhood for a pot-luck brunch in between sessions, and I wish I had taken a picture of all those good people, but here are a couple:

I did take a pic of one of the dishes one family brought because wow:

They were so good!

I got the “Easter kitchen” after they left.

Some good note-taking:

Had to include that last one even thought it’s blurry because I like it.

We took pics. to show what we were doing on our group family text:

Elle’s power was out so she was watching at the church:
And Max was too busy hanging with my family up in Utah and we never got one from him…
We did an Easter egg hunt super late, after all the conference awesomeness:

Bo was very excited about all that hoopla.

This was a pretty heart-breaking part of Easter….I really, really had to help Lucy see those eggs.

But I’m not going to go into that right now.  Let’s just stay on the bright side for today.

Love these sisters.

Right before we left to head to our extended family Easter dinner Lucy decided we must somehow figure out an April Fool’s joke.   She came up with this all on her own and was quite serious about it.

Everyone totally bought it and asked her all kinds of questions as to how she broke it: it was on the trampoline, she bounced too high, it happened that morning, etc. etc.  I was trying to figure out how I felt  with all that “joking” so I was happy she was excited to make her own announcement before the prayer…Dave told everyone she had announcement and she whipped that sling off with all the enthusiasm in the world and said “April Fools!” to which everyone erupted in clapping and laughing.

She was pretty pleased about that 🙂
I made this salad again (back HERE):

I didn’t get a pic of everyone around one of the adult tables but here’s Grace and her newest little cousin’s baby (what do you call that?  Cousin-once-removed?)

Here’s a better one:

Oh man he is so dang sweet.

…as are these girls:

I’ll let the pictures tell the rest of the story since I’m out of time.  Here you go!

Oh, except one more note:  Dave’s parents just returned from serving a mission in Africa…more on that soon, but so fun to have them reunited with all these people:

Happy Easter.

  1. I love my non-LDS family (and me, also being non-LDS)… but DANG, your family and friend get togethers look SO MUCH FUN. I wish I could be an Eyre/Pothier for a day 🙂

    1. And I think you, Shawni, look so much like Charity these days!
In the family text group picture I could swear that it is Charity.

      I'm loving Lucy's joke!

    1. You know, I think we actually got that for our wedding all those years ago. I'm thinking maybe Crate & Barrel? Sorry that's probably not too helpful since it's so old!

  2. I had a friend who was legally blind growing up and her family did an Easter egg hunt in the dark hours of the morning or evening. Her Mom would put glow sticks next to each egg and the light and dark contrast helped my friend find the eggs. May even be able to spray paint the plastic eggs with glow in the dark paint, 'charge' them ahead of time and try that. That would hopefully allow Lucy to find them.

    1. That's a good idea we should experiment with. I'm not sure the contrast would be high enough, she usually needs quite bright lights in the dark, but it's worth a try! Thank you for the idea!
      xoxo
