Home service walking for water

walking for water

by Shawni

I’m excited about this opportunity and wanted to share.

Last summer we were able to see first hand how much we take it for granted that we can turn on a tap and get clean drinking water. We were in a little town in Uganda where you had to walk for miles to have that same luxury. And then we were able to visit another town that was lucky enough to have their own bore hole. That clean water changes lives. (Wrote about that back HERE.)

The organization that facilitates some projects over there in Uganda (Family Humanitarian) is doing a fund raiser to help more families have the luxury of access to clean drinking water…”perhaps the single most powerful tool for sparking economic growth that humanity has ever known.” Did you know over a billion people on this planet do not have access to clean drinking water? But there are some pretty awesome low-cost ways to change all that.

So this is the deal. We signed up as a family to walk as many miles as we can from the 6th to the 12th (yesterday until Saturday). Our goal is to walk 75 miles all combined. We are taking on this challenge:

So I wanted to share our donation page, because we’d LOVE to have any help making our goal.

Our page is HERE.

But also, wanted to let people be aware that it’s not too late to do your own family fund raising if you so desire. I think these are kind of fun ideas:

The registration page is HERE.

Excited that any money we raise, together, will help kids like this access clean drinking water, which in turn will change their lives for the better.

So, walk/run with us if you can! And click HERE if you want to help by making a donation!

Love, Shawni

This is awesome! My family was in Kenya last summer and together we financed a well for a village so they could have access to clean water. It is something that we completely take for granted. You never know how much you NEED it, until you have no access to it. ❤️

Shawni, thank you so much for sharing and modeling giving during this time. I’m so grateful to read this! Thank you so much to you and your family. I was wondering if you had any involvement with fundraising/giving resources for the water crisis in Flint, Michigan, right here in our own backyard? I follow a youth activist from Flint, Mari Copeny (https://www.instagram.com/littlemissflint/?hl=en) and I’ve learned so much about the water crisis in Flint from her. She has a page on her website for those interested in contributing to her community (https://www.maricopeny.com/help-me-give-back), if you’re interested! The young people of this generation are so extraordinary! Take good care.
