Little did I know when all those little girls were bouncing around full of drama (which they still are…some more than others…)

(That’s Claire on the left as Mitt Romney, one of my all-time fav. Halloween outfits, ha!!)

…that they would grow up to be some of my very best friends…

And best friends with each other as well

Oh they have their moments…that’s for sure (gosh they can be snippy!), but through the years they have gradually learned to remedy those moments relatively quickly, and they’re back to glistening with enjoying each other, sweeping in Lucy whenever she will let them, and when she does, with the prettiest gigantic smile.

This has taken time.

But I’m here to give hope to those with little snippy girls…it gets better, I promise!

I’m so grateful for Abby who joins right into (and puts up with) the party and is the best addition we could ever ask for.

Now I have to pause for a minute to say I could gush on and on about my boy too, grateful more than words could say that he’s mine, but thinking specifically about these girls today. I talked about loving them back HERE a while back, but I just had to stop here in my tracks again, because I am just so grateful for this band of girls who have taught me (and are still teaching me!) so much more than I could ever teach them.

  1. As a mother of four adult daughters myself, I agree that they are one of my greatest joys and blessings and my very best friends. We are scattered across the country right now, and I look forward to when we can be together again.

    1. Oh they will be ok, if I can speak from my growing-up family experience. My brothers are the greatest friends. Good luck and hang in there mama!

  2. I’m excited to see how my kids’ relationship blossoms. My (step)daughter (I don’t think of her with the step part, she’s just my baby girl) is almost 10 and then I had a boy three months ago now. Completely different since they are girl/boy and so far apart in age. I told my daughter that she is totally going to be his hero. So far, she is completely obsessed with him (me too) and I love it.
