I think my favorite of our podcasts so far is the one that aired this week.

It’s called Discipline: helping kids WANT to behave.

We talk about things our parents did in our family growing up:

  • Family rules “buy-in” (we all gave input and even made a poster of the “rules” ourselves)
  • Keep it clear and simple (the long list of original rules was narrowed down to five, and we sure knew them…even had a song to sing to remind us…which my sister Charity sings beautifully in the episode:)
  • Consequences were natural and clear, and that could be FOLLOWED-THROUGH with!

We also talk about how these things have evolved in own families, what we liked, what we didn’t.

But most importantly, we talk about what we believe is the “magical key” to helping kids WANT to behave.

And you’ll have to tune in to hear that part! 🙂

Here are some clues though…first from my mother:

And then from me:

So go on over and have a listen!

And let us know what you think or add extra ideas over HERE.

Motherhood is tricky.

Creating expectations in a family is sometimes one of the trickiest parts.

We are sending out so much love to everyone out there because YOU CAN DO IT!

I love that Saydi said, “The only way to fail is to give up.”

And we shared a favorite, “Oh God of second chances, here I am again.”

We’re here to cheer you on and encourage you to just keep going.

You’ve got this!

And I hope listening to this episode will help nudge you with some ideas for your own family.

XOXO
