Our nephew got married in Milwaukee. It happened to be the same weekend when Lucy was playing the piano at church.
So let’s talk about the piano first because this girl amazes me.
She was playing for a farewell for a good family friend. He loves the song “Savior, Redeemer of My Soul,” so she told him, SURE! I’ll play that for you!
The trouble is she didn’t know that song. And she only had a couple weeks to learn it.
So she and her mother sat and learned that thing. The amazing thing is that I can tell her the notes (and believe me, I’m a mess at that…I’m still doing the “F,A,C,E” and “Every Good Boy Does Fine” to figure out the names of the notes), and the minute I tell her, she just remembers exactly what to play.
By the time we left for the wedding that girl had that thing learned and memorized. And could play it so beautifully.
The Wedding
We were in Milwaukee for 24 hours but we sure packed in some good stuff.
So good to be with family.
And the wedding was so beautiful.
Sure, there was a little rain that blew in right as the ceremony began, but hey, that makes it more memorable, right?
Isn’t it so beautiful when people find each other?
Back at Home
Meanwhile Dave’s little sister who wasn’t going to the wedding hung with Lucy overnight and they sure had fun. SO grateful she was able to help Lu get ready and at church in time.
Dave and I pulled in just in time to hear Lu play. Our church is at 8:30am, so you do the math getting from Milwaukee that morning on a nearly four hour flight and getting there only 20 minutes late…phew!
It was pretty incredible to sit and let that piano piece, full of Lucy’s dynamics and emotion, wash over my heart on those cold hard chairs in the back of the chapel. That girl is a wonder.
She sure loves this great family who treat her like their own. So grateful for them!
And that’s a wrap for that wedding and piano weekend where the stars aligned in so many ways to make it work.
I feel superficial when making such comments and yet I have to comment that Lucy has beautiful hair! It looks so healthy and strong. And a very nice colour, too.
I agree, Lucy has lovely hair.
She reminds me so much of Grace, especially with her hair.
