Ok, I’ve been largely MIA around here. Been working so hard on getting this little blog “revamp” going, have you noticed it? So many thoughts to share about that and my gradual shift here in blogging as my kids turn into adults. But for today, speaking of kids morphing into adults, IT’S CARSON’S BIRTHDAY!
Now, Carson is not one to want the spotlight. But it’s a big birthday today and I don’t think he’ll be mad if I just say a couple things:), right Lar? I promise to keep it short!
This kid! He has set such a high standard for my other girls as to what to look for in a spouse and also an extra member of the family. He just adds so much and is earnestly aware of everyone and just so kind.

I mean, if Lucy loves you, you are good stuff, I’ll tell you that! And Lu adores this guy. He makes everyone feel seen and heard.
He is just good to the core, the best conversationalist, always willing to help and see what needs to be done.

He’s not shy, willing to get right in there and be part of things.

Always up for an adventure.

Is the best additional son for this guy:

Treats his wife just how you want your daughter to be treated.
An example: here he is helping her float her birthday cake (her tradition) with the cake he baked for her on her birthday.

Sweetness.
They make synergy together, these two.

He works so hard, studies so hard, and makes the best doctor.

And we’re forever grateful that he’s “ours.”

Happy Birthday Carson!!

Oh Happy Birthday to the son you had the easy way. The two are adorable! Additionally close to my heart as our eldest son went to the University of Miami Medical School and he and our sweet DIL began their lives together in Miami as yours did. Fast forward they are in MO. where he practices Cardiology . ( as well I met my husband near Stanford where he was a new Attending in Cardiology at a Standford hospital.)
43 years later —— we are in MI.
I have missed you and was wondering how your family were doing. Happy New Year! Thank you for all you do with your sharing and caring. I love your blog!
Three holes In Elle’s ears an no garments. And a link to see them get sealed in the temple. Am I missing something here?
It takes less time to compliment someone than trying to tear them down.
They are an adorable couple and seem very happy! How they choose to live their life is their business!
Happy birthday Carson! You got blessed with such wonderful in-laws!
That’s an interesting comment to leave on someone else’s blog..
What motivation lies behind your comment? Has the young lady wronged you in any way? Could it be that the comment has more to do with you than with the person targeted at?
You might have noticed that we feel joy when we lift others up and bitterness when we tear them down. Happiness starts within oneself, creating a life that one truly enjoys, regardless of what everyone else may or may not be doing. That’s the key ingredient to fulfilment and inner peace.
My “motivation” is to try to understand Shawni’s thinking in the way the post was presented. And to reconcile in my mind the appropriateness of posting the picture which clearly shows no garments – next to a link where we can watch them getting sealed in the temple.
Does that not seem – odd?
It’s like she wants to make a huge deal out of the temple sealing while at the same time showing that the covenants are not being kept.
Strange at best, hypocritical at worst.
Don’t blame me for pointing it out. It’s there for all to see.
Any explanation?
Leaving aside all your other questions/comments – the suggestions of other posts is probably created by an algorithm rather than Shawni handpicking them. I’m guessing they are there because they’ve got Elle in them/a photo of Elle. So no point is being made, they’re there because of AI.
I agree, I see no link to the sealing but I do see links to a Jackson Soufflé recipe and Shawni’s New Year’s resolutions.
No it was a link. I took a screenshot. She removed it. Not surprised.
Happy Belated Birthday to Carson. I hope he had a great day. 🎉🎁🎈🎂🥳
Just curious, was he 30 this year?
you and your husband seem to do a great job at fostering relationships with your kids in law which is so special. sounds like your kids make it easy too by choosing wonderful spouses!
just a note on the blog revamp, I can’t say how it looks on desktop but reading it on a phone or iPad gives a mobile version which is now a bit crowded and harder to navigate since this latest change. not sure if there’s anything to be done about that but if you’re still tweaking things, a layout like what you had prior would be appreciated for easy reading 🙂
@Madam Queen How, when, where and if someone wears their garments is something personal and solely between God and that person. We are all just doing the best we can. Let’s choose to cheer each other on instead of tearing down. I hope others give you grace in your life as well.
Grace? Dear, when you go through the temple, let alone get sealed there… you promise to do certain things. Wearing garments is one of them. There is no grace. There is total disregard for promises made to God. How much grace will be given when standing before Him (and apparently Her).?
