We wrapped up the summer by heading to Aspen Grove with our family and a bunch of friends.
We really like that place.
Dave was a little skeptical going in…last time we went (four years ago) it SNOWED in June.
We froze.
And the food…I’ll just say it wasn’t so desirable.
Don’t get me wrong, we still LOVED it. We went with awesome friends and had some serious great family time. But Dave remembered the “glass half empty” on those two parts.
This year the weather was perfect and they had a new chef. That added with the fact that the mountains were almost fluorescent green because of so much rain this year made for a pretty darn gorgeous trip.
Perfect all the way around.
These girls didn’t know I was following them…so sweet.
Dave and I visited where we went to lunch the day we got engaged (Sundance).
The adults enjoyed some gorgeous hikes.
Some extra friends came to visit one night. So great to see them again!
Aspen Follies (family game/relay competitions):
Lu was in Heaven with so many little people to cater to her. Everyone was SO nice to her. Dave and I were so grateful.
Ropes Course:
This makes it look not so high…
…but it was SUPER high. I was proud of these kids for doing it.
Claire got to do rock climbing. She went from super excited (above)….
…to “a little worried”…
…to “really ready to get down.”
Lu was happy as could be with her no-flavor sno-cone (after I made Gracie throw away the blue one that did so well at making her a mustache).
This trip made me feel a little old because we all have these BIG kids. Last time we went to Aspen Grove we tucked all the kids in bed and the adults stayed up late playing games all night. This trip we had all these big kids staying up with us all night.
They were pretty darn cute “big” kids. So nice to each other and man, did they ever come up with some great games. This was our night “game spot” and gathering place.Family Dance Night. Lucy finally got happy after throwing her share of some great fits.
Closing ceremony…each group did a little presentation. Lucy decided to join Claire’s.We were cracking up watching her try to mimic all the actions.
(Grace didn’t have some crazy face infection…just paint from her class.)
