I can’t let too much time slip away after the 4th to come here to write my gratitude for this imperfect country where I live…a country filled with people who are willing to work to progress and build bridges and right wrongs. We have much work to do, but we always have, haven’t we?

I got a little teary when we sang “America the Beautiful” for family church on Sunday. Loved these lines:

“God mend thine ev’ry flaw,

confirm thy soul in self-control…

Crown thy good with brotherhood…

Oh beautiful for heroes proved,

in liberating stife,

Who more than self their country loved,

and mercy more than life!

Till all success be nobleness,

And ev’ry gain divine.

We do have many flaws to mend, but life is all about progress.

May we all “crown the good in brotherhood” and be those heroes who help to prove the beauty of working for noble successes and divine gains, which always come from love.

Sending lots of love out into the world from our family to yours! (including Elle and Carson who were with his family for the 4th).

LOVE!
