I love days when they serve turkey and “whipped” (completely fake mashed) potatoes for school lunch because my kids all want to buy it and we don’t have to do the whole lunch packing ordeal in the morning. Such freedom! So instead of doing a little cleaning job or organizing something in my newfound extra couple minutes I’ll write in my blog…

I am so mad because my kids have said some of the funniest things lately and I forget to write them down, and then, because my brain is getting dangerously close to having Alzheimer’s, I forget them all together. But one funny thing is that Gracie just realized that her name is actually “Grace Anne” and not “Grace And.” We are very proud of her and this great accomplishment at age six. Yes, we have explained to her many times that her middle name is “Anne,” and that she’s named after her wonderful great grandmother, but I guess she’s just thought the whole time, “what a funny, silly name for a grandma…’And’.”

I’m posting some pictures Josh took while we were camping that completely typify my Grace. (You may want to click on the picture to see them bigger…this looks teeny.) She is so full of confidence, personality and happiness and that cute little dimpled smiley face sure lights up our home.

  1. She is adorable. I remember meeting her when she was a chunky little rolly polly baby. Wow times flies by. Don’t you wonder what other things kids hear and misunderstand what adults are saying. I am sure there could be a whole book on that.

  2. Love the pics. She is so super cute! About the Alzheimers thing, we call that “sometimers”. My friend and I say that we have the same brain as “Dory” the fish from Nemo. LOL Have a good weekend!

  3. I love reading your blog. I love the things Kids say. I like you forget most of the best of the best kid comments. The one’s I remember are especially good. Your Grace seems a lot like my 6 yr old Sarah. My Grace is 4 wks tomorrow. Still a bit young for any funny comments but judging from her occasional funny faces she will be quotable.

  4. I love Grade And with all my heart. She can put a smile on anyone’s face. I wish I could remember some of the funny things she has said to me…there’s so many!

  5. Yes – she finally got it! She is so cute and 100% Pothier.
Ok Shawni – you are the woman! I was laughing so hard reading about your camping adventure. Ummm…it is a lot of work, huh? But I am glad that you guys had fun even with all of the craziness.
You take such gorgeous pictures and your kids look way put together and cute for camping. I pull out their ugliest, dingiest, oldest clothes and bring them camping. The pics make them look almost homeless though so there is a trade-off.

Good for you though Shawni. You are awesome!
