There’s nothing to make you love the pants off your house more than being away for a month.

Oh man, we’re all so thankful to be home. You’d think we were walking into Disneyland with how excited everyone was to get here. Even Lucy was proud as a peacock with her tummy pushed out ahead of her as she strutted around checking everything out with a huge smile stretched across her face.

This morning Dave pulled away from my parent’s house with the car loaded up with six kids and all our “stuff.” (Two extra cousins came home with us.) Lucy and I hung out with my family for the rest of the day, hopped on a plane in the evening, and Dave and the kids timed it perfectly to pick us up at the airport on the last part of their LONG drive home. This is after he just got home from a week in China yesterday afternoon, jet-lagged and all. Yes, he is superman. We were all pretty worried about him, but he insisted that was the way to do it. (I didn’t complain too much.)

We stopped by the kid’s school on our way home to check out the new teachers and class lists for the kids. (They start school on Wednesday…way too early as far as I’m concerned.) They all got who they wanted and everyone’s so excited to see all their friends and get going back in life tomorrow they could hardly go to sleep.

I don’t know that I’m ready to get back into real life, but I do know that I LOVE being home.

That doesn’t mean I’m not already counting down the days ’til next summer….

  1. Shawni, I can’t believe that you actually posted this last night after you got home with all that mayhem going on. Superman is definitely married to Wonder Woman!
    Love you,
    Mom

  2. It is so fun looking at your blog. I check it all the time but never have time to write a comment! First of all, you have become the most amazing photographer. Your life looks like a LIFE magazine spread. It inspires me to learn how to use my camera!
What an amazing time for you kids up in bear lake. I am constantly amazed at how you do all you do and with such a great attitude. What a special family you have. Will you ask your parents if they will adopt Danny and I? we miss you all!

  3. Shawni,

I’m a friend of Alysa Whitlock. She listed your blog under fav’s on her own blog. I was so happy to find it. I have been a LONG time fan of your parents. Their books have truly been a godsend to me. I have terrific parents, but they are definitely managers and not nurtures. Your parents perspectives have helped me be the mom I know I need to be for my own children.

In fact, I was so excited to actually meet your mom a few years ago at a conference that she spoke at. She was adorable! I came home and told my husband, it was great to meet her and she was exactly what I expected–the kind of person you just want to hang out with! You are lucky to have such a mom!

Anyway, I hope you don’t mind me peaking in on your blog from time to time. I am always inspired by reading what other happy families are doing. Your family is absolutely darling!

I loved your post of your day too….I was laughing all the way through.
    Crazy Crazy Days!!!
