Yeah, those are job charts you see (more here on what we do with them).
Apparently the kids didn’t want to mess them up by actually using them!
It looks like sweet Claire made a valiant effort for the first two days, bless her heart.
And Grace’s is non-existent since Lucy decided it would be a good spot for a new drawing she had in mind.
We are easing gradually into this school/schedule thing.
But next week it’s down to business if it kills us!
Wish us luck!
this made me giggle! ahhaha
We adopted your this method and our wall looks just about the same. They do most of the stuff they just keep forgetting to mark their stuff off. Better to learn now than when they are out on their own.
This post makes me feel so NORMAL! Thank-you!!
We had a lot of success with our version of your method last year, but then I had a baby and it was summer anyway and job charts went down the tubes. No luck this week either with school starting and adjusting into new routines. Next week maybe???
just an idea to make the charts more "green".. If their jobs remain the same from week to week then laminating the charts and using a wipeable marker instead of reprinting charts every week would save a tree or two and money 🙂
This makes me feel normal. Thanks!
I'm so glad to hear we aren't the only ones who struggle with the job/job chart thing!
Claire deserves a prize for that effort.
LOL
Love it! Ours are mostly marked off…from 3 weeks ago. So much for jobs at the end of summer!
Totally unrelated… please tell me you have this song bookmarked for the day Grace gets married 🙂

My husband and I JUST talked yesterday about how poorly our job charts are going – sigh!
Adore your blog! Love how u keep it real! I just purchased several of your parents books on Amazon 🙂
Question for you, in an older post you talked about Claire's UTIs. My 6 your old daughter has them often too. I'm hoping she will eventually outgrow.

It's 5am on Tuesday morning and I got up to sketch out a schedule… with three kids in three different schools, plus activities and my own work schedule, I need something. So I cam to visit for some inspiration… and the post I see is this one. I am so glad to learn we aren't the only family working our way back into schedules. 😀
We have been doing job charts for about 6 months now. Ours are almost always blank.my kids are 7 and 8. What do you do when they flat out refuse to do their chores? Mine won't get their allowance, but they don't seem to care. I don't buy them wants, just needs. And we try to make chores a fun/teamwork thing. Would love some advice. Thanks for keeping it real.
This might post twice… I just stumbled upon your blog and have fallen in love with your allowance program and these job charts and the "zone" wheel. Based on this post- it appears your kids didn't do the charts for a while…so does that mean they also weren't getting allowance? Or how did you handle that?
