…Go to an MCO Concert. Or, if you want to be more formal, a Millennial Choirs and Orchestras concert.
Yow.

This girl has put in some serious work this month, not just with college essays and school and fighting her mom about trying to branch her out of her one-braid-every-single-day dealio (ha!). She performed not in one, and not even in the regular SIX Christmas performances, but this year they added two more to adjust for the demand.
Which brought her performances to a grand total of EIGHT concerts.

Phew.
I cried during my parent volunteer on the concert run-through.

I cried as a concert volunteer the concert night I went to help.

I cried when I got this picture from a friend:

And this one too:

There is nothing like the village of people who love and adore Lucy, and these two are some of the tops.
I cried for so many reasons.
- I mean, to have an opportunity for your child to find something she absolutely adores. Especially when so many opportunities are closed for her because of her vision.
- When that opportunity teaches her to belt out holy songs about Jesus, and the conductors teach not only diction and pronunciation and music theory, but also scripture and goodness? I don’t know that you can ask for more than that.
- When your daughter knows all the Christmas songs at church, and lights up because she knows them and she FEELS them from her experiences in MCO.
- When there is something that helps your child feel part of something so much bigger than herself, it just makes you cry.
Oh we are so lucky to have MCO in our lives.
AND whoa! That is a LOT of work and time and effort! It runs us ragged around here I tell you. That’s a lot of getting out of school early and a lot of hours spent at the concert center. And Lucy came home each night positively glowing.
We did our traditional concert with Dave’s parents and Josh. Dave’s parents met us for tacos first:

We never got to see Lucy after since we were at her first concert, but I’ll just say I cried again.
Especially when they sang “the blind shall see, the deaf shall hear” with all her might during “Mary Did You Know.” Oh that girl of mine sang that part with so much power.
I love that Grace was here for a wedding and got to go to one of the concerts. And it can’t hurt to be answered for Winter Formal after one of your concerts.

Phew. That MCO puts you through the wringer…in the best of ways.
So grateful for the glow on my girl’s face when she came home that last night, went under the “tunnel” Dave and I made for her, and had finished such a big accomplishment.
What a beautiful experience this time of the year! Way to go Lucy! Christmas music is so beautiful to listen to and sing. You are a beautiful young woman! Have a great time at Winter Formal.
Thank you Tammy!

Perfect timing as we’re getting ready for the first of our five MCO concerts for my 5 and 7 year olds today. We are newbies (based on your recommendation!) and the kids are nervous and excited. Here we go!
Oh you’re going to love it! I know that age group is tricky, but that music is so worth it!

What a wonderful experience! Yay Lucy!! (and Lucy’s hair is absolutely beautiful!)
Thank you Lea!
