This year I was invited to attend the “Light the World” Giving Machine ribbon cutting ceremony. What is that, you may ask? Well, it’s a joint faith initiative to “Light the World” through service you can do from a machine, of all things.

The one here in the desert was one of the first five in the world which is kind of exciting, and now there are giving machines all over (see that map).

So, you may ask, why is this “joint faith” thing?
Well, they choose local charities to support wherever these machines are in the world. I loved being at this opening ceremony, because each charity represented in our own giving machine this year got to give a little overview of what they do to help in the community.
I only got pictures of four of the six, but oh man, there are so many people doing so much good in the world.
From an initiative to help kids to learn to read (we take reading so for granted sometimes!) to freeing generations from human trafficking, there was so much good represented in that room!

I love that these charities represent so many different people and needs and faiths doing good.
I loved hearing their passion and goodness.
It didn’t hurt that McKenna Breinholt was there to sing too.
So grateful for creative initiatives that help us all learn to reach out more.
