I finally have another class coming up at Blissful Living Studios. Yep. Finally. And it’s next week.

I’m really excited about it because it’s all about my favorite post-editing program:

Lightroom.

There are so many things you can do to get good photos in this digital age of photography. But one of the best things that’s available to us all as photographers is post-editing. As much as photographers don’t like to admit it, we’ve gotta do it. I like to compare it to having my own little darkroom like professional photographers did in the “old days” of film. There’s so much you can do to liven up the pictures that sometimes tend to be a little bit bland in the digital world without post editing. Of course, you need to be careful because I’m not a big fan of the really overworked pictures. But something to add some vibrancy and crisp-ness never hurt anyone.

People always ask if I use actions and what kind of post-editing I do. Well, here’s the answer: I use no actions. I just make my own presets in Lightroom. And it’s SO easy. I used to always use Photoshop, which I still love for collages and all that jazz. But for pure photo editing I use Lightroom.

So that’s what this class will be all about.

And the greatest thing about it is that my brother Josh, who taught me everything I know about this program, will be the team teacher.

Yep, again, get excited. He has the best way of explaining things and is a sheer wealth of knowledge. And he’ll be standing right there beside me…and my crooked mouth.

So sign up here if you’re interested. And hurry because we need to limit the sign-ups so everyone will get the time and attention they need.

    LOVE.
    LIGHTROOM.
Especially with the new baby — it’s SO much faster than it used to be when I was editing with Photoshop (I even used to use paint shop pro — yikes).

I noticed you popped by my blog with Gracie today… hope you showed her my blog on gratitude where I noted she is one adorable second grader (-: Have a fabulous Mother’s Day!

  10. Shawni!

Thank you so much for checking on me after I sent you that email about the family tree.

You are so with it that you did get back to me twice.

Thanks again for taking a minute out of your very busy life to think of me.

I love your blog. Your pictures are gorgeous!

I am just learning Lightroom but I love it. Wish I could take your class online!

  11. Hey Shawni – an idea for all of us out of town people who want to partake of your expertise – do a virtual class! I have a gotowebinar account that can have up to 1,000 people on it, and I’m sure we will all be willing to pay you for your time. If you’re willing to do it, let me know and we can set it up.

  12. hi Shawni,

I wanted to email you this but I don’t have your email and realized it is not on your blog.

Anyway, my husband got me your book for Mother’s Day and so far I really love it. You and your mom did such a wonderful job. I pretty much cried the first chapter- anything about being a mom makes me cry!

Also, I don’t have photoshop or Lightroom. I just use photoshop elements. SO, I was planning on buying photoshop soon and then I read this post. Should I just buy lightroom instead??? It is that much better??

You can email me if you have time

    theharlowfamily at gmail.com

    Thanks so much!
