My. Kids. Want. A. Newborn.
Luckily my sister-in-law went ahead and had one for us all. That baby boy is getting some serious loving from so many cousins all around.
You would think that to see my children’s faces as they hold that newborn would make my own “I.W.A.N.” feelings drive me crazy.

But it’s interesting how the brilliant glow from their smiles makes me feel calm and at peace.
We love babies.

All of us.

I love sharing that love with my children.

Those who will forever and always be my “babies.”
And I’m grateful someone we love provided us with such a sweet one to love and dote on.

  1. Aww cute pictures! Now I really want my baby to get here but we still have 3 months to go! Congrats to you and your family on the sweet little boy!

  2. My 8-year-old asked a few times today if we could have another baby (after five kids and mom being fixed). I love the newborns and babies and would have tons if I could. We, too, are grateful for new cousins that will have to make up for it. P.s., I love the cute little baby leg pictures.

  3. Beautiful pictures but that last picture almost made me cry. It's so amazing and that sweet baby totally knows that the person holding him is his Mama.

  4. Oh my gracious, what a darling little baby. Aren't they all?
Sometimes I feel like I could handle another baby and sometimes I can't handle even one of my five. I usually go with the latter of the two feelings and call it good.
I would never pass up a chance to hold or love a newborn though.

  5. I wonder if you read each comment?…The thing that gets me with the IWAN is that I am literally afraid that I won't remember, when they all become 'big people' what it was like. My oldest (I have 3) is only 6 and I already forgot what she looked like, and I can only barely catch that special smell on the 2 year old. The smell that tells me this is not only a newborn, but MINE. I see babies now and I nearly cry every time. When you post about IWAN, I want to jump through my computer and ask you a million questions, is the next phase REALLY that great? Does your heart ever stop aching for the newborn that you know you'll never get back? Will they still need me and love me the way they did when they were newborns. And most of all WHY DIDN'T THEY COME WITH OWNERS MANUALS!!! (Thank you for the inspiration)

  6. Oh Shawni, what a beautiful baby! I audibly squealed at the knee shot–oh my! I completely agree with what Launa said too. How can a complete stanger's baby give us all so much joy–amazing isn't it:)!

  7. Just learned about your National Young Motherhood recognition! That is wonderful news. Thanks for being such a great example. We need more moms like you in the world 🙂

  8. Wow, you must have an awesome sister-in-law who is willing to feed your I.W.A.N desires! 🙂 Thanks for the beautiful shots, I love the last one!

  9. Mcwally, That thing behind the kids is just in the curtain in the hospital. Yeah, we got to see that baby BRAND new! 🙂

  10. oh my goodness! And that is why I can't pass on any baby things! adorable! love all the wrinkles and those wrinkly knees – killing me!

my 4th is only 7 months old and I'm already scheming how i'm going to get number 5 in. After church last week one of the mums told me they had been joking that I should be the one who has my 5th as we have quite a few families with 4 kids at our small school but none with 5!!! still one spare seat in our new van:)

thank you for sharing and making us all want a newborn:)

    corrie:)
