I had to test out my new camera.
And as luck would have it, there are gorgeous green fields all over near where we live. And if you haven’t noticed, I LOVE them. (Click here for another shoot we did.)
They make for some good bonding time for me and my girls.
Not Max…he wants nothing to do with the fields (darn, I can’t find the link to his sad-face-in-the-field one).
But when I tell the girls we need to go on a photo shoot in the field they are happy to do it…
…especially if they have a good bribe (some treat left over from someone’s church class did the trick this time…thanks for sharing, Gracie!).Grace didn’t want to pose this time…she wanted to be the “poser.” She positioned her little sisters just so.…and then caught a picture of her Mom in action at the end.
Oh man I love photography! And boy oh boy I have a long way to go figuring out this camera, but at least my hands aren’t quite as sore these days.

  1. Hi I don't know you at all, but LOVE your blog! Super cute family!
I had a question, I have the same camera as you but nothing fancy for a lenz, just the one it came with. What setting are these pictures taken on? I love how you got the background so out of focus and the subject so in focus. I can never get that right. Is it a setting thing or is it all about the lenz you use?

  2. Hi Shawni, I dont know if you know me but i went to school with your husband and i am Mike Z. cousin. I came across your blog and love it and your pictures are amazing. Have a question for you, my husband just bought me for my b-day the cannon 7d and i know NOTHING about cameras or taking pics, i could barely turn it on. I want to learn as much as i can so do you know where i could take a class or something. Any info would be helpful, Thanks

  3. These pictures are beautiful!! I was wondering if you'd be willing to tell me where these fields are? I know we live in the same state and by any luck we both live close to these fields. I'd love to get some pictures of my girls taken there. (Too bad you are no longer doing photography for others or I'd hirer you in a second!) If it's some place you are willing to share here is my email tnjen at cox dot net. Thanks! Love your blog!
