Some Questions about a Baby Snow Skier

We have a first time skier around here. And I have some questions about our newest “baby snow skier.”

As I mentioned in the last post about Christmas, the first question is: how in Heaven’s name could I not create a post to highlight this new business??

Can you see those teensy boots? And those tiniest skis?

I think it’s safe to say we were all dying over this newest skier.

Now, to be clear, I’m using the term “skier” very loosely. Because it was mostly just scooting from one cheering aunt to another down a small hill.

But I don’t know that you could have a more delighted group of “helpers” as Murphy tried her hand at this, her Grandpa “Coach”‘s very favorite sport in the whole wide world. Which has become a favorite for all of us.

Ok but let’s start the story from the beginning.

Our delight was purely tangible as we gathered close to watch Max take Murphy up the “magic carpet” (a very proud dad) one late afternoon to let her ski down on the front of his skis.

She was interested enough that Max and Dave decided they’d better march right on down and rent some “baby skis” for her to try.

Don’t let this face fool you…

…she was pretty excited about this idea.

So up she went with her Dad.

By this time a few of us were driving Carson to the airport and we didn’t realize she was actually going to TRY this thing!

So I loved all hunching around that FaceTime in the car as we drove, when Grace was showing us Murphy “skiing” from Max to Abby over and over en route down the bunny hill.

It was very exciting I tell you!

I want to always remember the end of the next day day where we were all crowded around Murphy taking tiny stretches skiing down the hill to return her skis, into the arms of different aunts and her dad each stretch…all of us cheering her on.

Please excuse the multitudes of “outtakes” from my video footage…

So here are my questions:

I know I’m biased, but have you ever seen a cuter skier? Or a more excited one?

Have you ever seen more giant gloves on a small skier? Ha!

Hey, you gotta go with what you’ve got if skiing calls!

Or more personality oozing out of a child?

Or more excited aunts and a prouder dad?

Ok, I’ll spare you the 45 other outtakes, but we need this one Abby caught of our little band of cheerleaders from up above:

Yes, we’re pretty proud of our new “baby skier.”

Love you, Miss Murphy Jane! Looking forward to many more years to come skiing down mountains with you!

  1. Murphy is absolutely adorable! She is going to be quite the skier. What a wonderful tradition that Grandpa Pothier taught his children! You could feel her enthusiasm! She is blessed to have such an amazing family 🙂

    1. Thanks Tammy. I’m SO grateful for Dave’s Dad, and for Dave, because it takes so much patience to get us all to love this as much as we do.It really is a beautiful gift.

  2. OK, this might be the cutest little skier I ever did see. As much fun as she’s having the thing that I really took away from this was what an amazing family she will always have. They will always be aunties there cheering her on, being angels been guides navigating her through life along with her parents and grandparents. So blessed I love this so much.

    1. Oh I love this thought so much as an analogy to life. She really does have people who will always be cheering her on in whatever comes her way, and that’s a pretty beautiful thing to think about!
      XOXO
