My love affair with summer is still going strong.

This is the life as far as I’m concerned. We have our little routine going. We all get up and do our “jobs”: practicing, swim team (we’ve created our own in our back yard), exercise, reading, and then we can do whatever we want in the afternoon. No friends in the mornings (afternoons are fair game) is my favorite part. I adore my kids’ friends but sometimes I just want my kids to myself. I want them to play together. And they have been.

Of course, there have been some not-too-fun things like Lucy coloring her whole body:(actually that one was kind of funny…)

Elle had to get a couple teeth pulled:(…and definitely needs a new fingernail paint job)

And sure, there have been some fights and some complaining.

But for the most part, we are all pleased as punch about summer so far. Elle and her friends put on a cooking party called “CHOP.”

We’ve still been able to hang out at the park a little despite the heat:

I took the girls on a mother/daughter date with like forty other local moms and their kids to this nearby resort that gave us awesome rates:
(We do this every year for a summer kick-off thanks to my friend Lisa who puts it on. This year Elle and Grace joined me for the humongous water slides.)
We stayed up and played games in our hotel room…and then got up in the morning and played more.
Lu and I spent some good quality time on the lazy river.

You may wonder where in the world Max was. Well, this little excursion happened to fall when Max was at scout camp…we missed him.

But he had fun there…aside from the moment his dad (per strict instructions from his mom) made him pose with his b-day poster from his sisters:But when the doughnuts came out he was a little happier to be in front of the camera.
My sweet cousin and a couple of her kids came to visit for a little bit on her way through town visiting from Canada:

And what would summer be without a trip to Krispy Kreme to cash in on getting good grades?
Our routine is going to get messed up a little here now, which makes summer even better.

Because that means we’re traveling. And I LOVE traveling. I’ll be at the Power of Moms Motherhood Retreat by the time this posts, and then on to meet the rest of the fam. (aside from Lucy who I’m leaving with my Mom after the retreat) in WASHINGTON D.C. Max, Elle and Grace were all born there and Dave and I figured it’s high time we packed them up and headed back there to show them the old stomping grounds.

We are SOOO excited.

Since I have like 52 posts waiting to be posted (I can’t stop the thoughts racing through my brain without spilling them out into posts), I scheduled a few of them to post while we’re gone. Enjoy.

we have been doing reading and pool time! Also my girls like to play with friends but I limit it serverely during the school year (only weekends) and limit it in the summer to no more than a few hours a day otherwise I never would see them! their friends don't like it, but our family loves it!

  4. Oh that was cold….you can't send a gushy b-day card to your man at "SCOUT CAMP". I think the redemption was the Krispy Kreme though.
I'm now certain that you have a camera with you at all times. Elle looks like she's enjoying that shot.
