On Sunday, Max gave our second granddaughter, Miss Ada June, a special blessing in a quiet little gathering at Max and Abby’s house.
This is a tradition we do in our church to give babies an official name in the church records. And to bless them with spiritual and temporal blessings. It is a pretty special opportunity to focus on that new baby. So Dave and I were so happy we got to be there.
I wrote about my feelings about parental love and a blessing for Murphy Jane back when she was blessed. And on Sunday, it was another such special gathering, this time to focus on Ada.
Oh how we love this little family!

This darling girl who is the most pleasant, smiley child you might ever meet:

And I love this sweet dad of hers, and how he stood there and blessed Ada with all the love in his heart.

And this mama? Incredible.

Let’s talk about Ada’s dress. Because it’s pretty special and sentimental itself.
Elle (from FaceTime…missed her and Carson in person!) said she looked like she belonged on top of a cake with this bonnet. And she was right. Ha!

Back when Murphy was blessed, she was blessed in the same dress in which Abby was blessed (click on that post to see pictures).
So this time around, Abby asked if Ada could wear the same dress all her aunties were blessed in.
This is a dress my mom and I bought when we were in London when I was full-on pregnant with Elle, right before she was born.
And every one of our girls were blessed in it. Here’s Elle:

She was not too happy about it, apparently.
But calmed down with all that family love surrounding her:

Then came Grace:

Then Claire:

Little did Max know he’d be holding his own little baby with the same dress years from then:

And then there was Lucy:

So that dress meant a lot, passed down through the years.
And it was so fun to see Ada in it all these years later, right alongside some of the aunts who wore it all those years ago.

After the blessing we went out to soak up the sunset.

These guys live at the base of the most beautiful mountain full of muted Fall glory right now.
Love that we got to share this special day with Abby’s family who we love:

…as well as the paparazzi, HA!:

The parents and grandparents:

Yes, it was a special day.
Love you forever, Miss Ada June.
And your dear family.
XOXO

This is lovely.
Congrats to Ada on her blessing. x
She is certainly a cute & smiley baby.
It’s great that you had saved your girls’ blessing day dress & that Ada could wear it. She looks so cute in the pictures, especially in her bonnet too.
A very special day to always remember.
By the way, your Dad showed a video a few days ago of Murphy wishing him a Happy Birthday. It was adorable.
Murphy seems to be speaking so well. Can’t believe that she’s nearly 2 1/2
already.
I can’t believe it either! She is full-on talking and it’s about the cutest thing ever!
xoxo
