Speaking of sisters (my “theme” this week)…wait for it….Murphy got a new one.

Ada June
Her name is Ada June, and she was born on March 13th at 12:02pm, weighing 8lbs. 3oz.

We are all smitten with her calm spirit and tiny perfectness.
And I want to keep the story of her arrival from my perspective right here.
Because like the births of all babies, it is a sacred one.
The Lead-Up to Ada’s Arrival
Let’s back up to the lead-up to Ada’s arrival.
It was spring break, and we were in Utah to ski, praying she would arrive safe and sound while we were there so we could meet her.
Lu, Dave and I got to Utah before Claire and Grace did since they were in Palo Alto with Elle for some grand sister time (more on that coming soon for my “sister series.”). In the meantime, I got to go to the doctor with Abby and her mom, AND Abby and I went and surprised Claire at the airport.

How cute is that pregnant girl up there?? Seriously I don’t know that I have seen a cuter one, so anxious to meet that baby on-the-way.
Reunion with Claire
And also so anxious to see Claire after 18 months since she was too far along in her pregnancy to come to the desert when Claire got home.
It was a grand reunion:

I love them.

Amazing to think of that little bundle in Abby’s belly, getting ready to make her grand debut.

Sleepovers with Murphy
We sent Max and Abby home after some pretty big contractions, and got to keep Murphy for a couple nights, just in case that baby came in the night.
Oh man, we loved every minute we got to hang with that girl.

She is in an “Elsa Era” and we got to help her learn “Let it Go” in her Elsa pajamas. We also got to get her prepped for skiing some day:)

The Arrival
Our hearts were beating hard when we got this picture when we woke up on the 13th:

In the hospital ready for that baby!
Abby’s mom had Murphy that night and I loved this pic she sent, getting Murphy ready for that new little sister:

And then this:

Oh man.
SUCH JOY!!
We got to “meet” Ada from the ski slopes. Can you see us on the bottom corner of that picture on the left below? There was holiness in that call.

SO HAPPY for her safe arrival.
We made our way lickety-split down to meet that new little girl, so much excitement in that car!

Meeting Miss Ada June
Then suddenly she was in our arms, all of us vying to hold her and examine her tiny little hands and feet, hear her coos and gentle breathing.

Heaven surrounding us in that hospital room.

We were sure missing Elle and Carson, but they were on FaceTime the whole time falling in love with that baby along with the rest of us.

Abby’s mom was there too, we are pretty proud grandmas.

Murphy Meeting her Little Sister
The next day Murphy got to meet her new little sister.

Once again, we were on the ski slopes wanting to give them some space in that tiny hospital room, but Max called us to watch on FaceTime.

And I have to say, it was the absolute perfect way to watch that very special meeting.
We stood there, half-way down that pure powder snow, oooooing and ahhhhing with all our hearts, purely transfixed by that holiness:
The meeting of two sisters.

A brand new family of FOUR.

And some pretty proud grandparents.

Some Visits Before We Had to Leave
We spent a lot of time driving the next couple days, back and forth to see that little family.

…and to swoon over this little girl.

Abby is such a natural and perfect mother, love watching her with these girls.

Hard to leave this cute party of four…

But don’t worry, we were back the next day:

Gosh, babies grow and change so much every day.
Which is really sad because now we’re gone and are missing days.
Thankfully Abby sends me pictures like this:

Are you even kidding me with that cuteness?? There is nothing quite like watching your son be a father, especially when he’s so doting and attentive.
Sisters
Let’s end right where we began: sisters.

I LOVE that Murphy has her own little drawing on her arm for that picture up there, so real.
And I love that you can spot Max’s hands on the side of this picture:

Ready to save that little sister from the big one:

Yep, Max and Abby have their work cut out for them for sure.
But they have given these two sisterhood. A pretty spectacular gift.
And we are so happy for them all.
Welcome to the world Ada June!

Ada! Lovely name. Reminds me of the brilliant computer scientist (one of the first!) Ada Lovelace: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ada_Lovelace
Best wishes to your family.
Yes I think Ada Lovelace was part of the inspiration for the name. Kind of fun.

Thanks so much for all the well-wishes, everyone!
