There is just something so very special about people finding each other, and binding themselves together. I mentioned my missionary nephew’s thoughts about what good it does to “bind” ourselves to each other a bit ago. Along with our own anniversary (still so much more to come about that celebration…hopefully soon!)
So it was extra special to be able to attend two weddings this month of two of our very favorites in the wake of all those thoughts.
A Wedding in Boise
Dave and I headed up to Boise for the wedding of the son of some of our best friends. These two are such a perfect match and man, that is a pretty beautiful thing to witness.

Wedding Dinner
Dave and I made the drive up to arrive just in time for the wedding dinner the night before. Gosh I love these women with all my heart and it was so good to reunite with them after we all had some big adventures to get to that point:

There is something so special about your own children finding perfect matches, and it’s almost as exciting when you band together to celebrate your friends’ kids doing the same. Once again, that “binding” is just such a beautiful thing!
Love that all of us were able to be together in all that beauty, especially since we were coming from the stinking hot desert:

When we went to check into our hotel this was waiting for us:

How nice is that??
The Wedding Day
The wedding wasn’t until the evening the next day so we had some time to explore a bit and walk and talk along the river in the morning.

Then we all met up at this beautiful location for the wedding.

It was pretty beautiful and I was so touched by the vows they shared.

Love that our group from the desert got even bigger.

So many people to help that new couple wrap up in the cocoon of all our love to send them off into this grand adventure that is marriage.
And just fun to connect.

Love you forever, Aiden and Brielle!

Dave’s Sister’s Wedding Celebration
The next morning we made the drive back to Utah to celebrate Dave’s sister Annie’s marriage. She and her husband divorced five years ago, and it was just such happy business that she and her new husband found each other.
The Temple Sealing

He has four girls and she has five boys so yes, they’re in for a gaggle of kids. And I think they’re going to do tremendously well with that. There is so much love already as you can see in these photos:

I love that eight of the nine kids in Dave’s family were able to be there to help celebrate:

…and some of their spouses too.

Oh, and my girl Claire who was FRESH back from Hong Kong and all jet-lagged but so grateful to be able to join in.

The Ring Ceremony
They also had a beautiful ring ceremony nestled amidst all this beauty:

One of the girls is behind her sister above, but she was there…all nine of those cute kids so attentive and well-mannered as their parents exchanged vows.

Lucy felt so honored to be invited, she and Annie have the sweetest relationship.

Then a little dinner to top it all off, hosted by Dave’s cousin.

We felt so lucky to be able to help celebrate both these “bindings” of good people to love and nurture each other in marriage.
Cheers to them all and the grand adventures that await!

How does remarriage in the LDS church work? I had thought it wasn’t allowed, but clearly I was mistaken!
If a couple is married (sealed) in the temple but later divorce, they can have the temple sealing cancelled and be sealed to another person.
What does this mean for the children as far as being in an “eternal family” if their parents are unsealed?
Sorry I’m slow to answer this, thank you Molli for the explanation! This is what happened with these two. It’s been a journey for each of them and I’m so grateful they found each other!

Looks pretty! I’m not a member of LDS church, but I have read a bit about it. I thought girls and women were not supposed to show their shoulders, yet I see so many on these photos dressed like that. Is it a new rule or do some people just decide to not follow the rules? Genuinely curious about it. Thanks for your answer!
Most of the temple garment tops have a capped sleeve so if someone wants to cover their garments they would have to wear a shirt with a sleeve. Recently sleeveless garment tops have come out so my guess is some people are wearing the new garment tops but also some people maybe just don’t wear garments and in that case they could wear whatever clothing they’d like to. In the past there was more emphasis and attention on dressing “modestly” so there was sort of a hyper awareness of should or shouldn’t someone show their shoulders. Which translated to “LDS people can’t show their shoulders” which was never the case. Hope that answers your question.
Some people may not be members of the LDS church.
You did not read well and know it for those through the temple meaning about to go on a mission or sealed in the temple. Maybe you didn’t know about the tank garments recently released. It is so people are not staring at women trying to see their garment line wondering if they are wearing them, you have to admit that is creepy. There is no such mention of shoulders in strength for youth either. And some are not members. They don’t cut each other off when they leave, entirely.
Good question, Rosa, and thanks for the responses, you other three! Yes, there are new sleeveless garments which has changed some things a bit. I think it’s given us all a chance to contemplate the purpose of the garment and the “whys” involved. And also I love that there is continuing revelation in the church. My sister was reading an article about this to me the other day, that beautifully described it all, I’ll get it from her and add it here.

Looks like those new garments have inspired some very fun shopping trips!! And to think there was a time this comments section was filled comments on Elle’s prom dress
How fun for your sister in law to gain daughters and her new husband to gain sons! My parents both grew up in blended families, about the ages of those kids when their parents remarried, and developed beautiful relationships with their step parents who immediately treated them as their own. By the way they’re embracing each others children in the photo outside the temple, I hope this is the case for them as well.
Hope there was a sprinter on the registry though for all those kids! Gosh what a gaggle!
Who knows perhaps the ex husband remarried as well? I hope all the kids get to spend time with each parent.
I love this question and concern. I love when kids get to have the love of both sets of parents and in this case it seems like all parents are pretty involved. So happy for these kids.

Ha! They are going to need one, I didn’t even think about the car situation! I love hearing about your parents experience in blended families. It seems that this will be a similar situation, so much love involved. From the other parents as well. One really touching thing was that the parents of one of the ex-spouses was there at the temple in support and love. I agree, those hugs outside the temple are priceless.
