Yesterday I sat with this view:
…for seven and a half hours straight without moving and got SO much done.

It was like a perfect little gift straight from Heaven to sit there watching the beauty of snow floating down in that white wonderland next to my Mom all day to try to catch-up with my life. I had a list a mile long of things I wanted to get done: make a Blurb book (my never-ending wish that never seems to grasp a minute of my time), answer endless e-mails, re-work a few things on this blog, etc. And truth be told, even after all those hours I only got to the very tippy-top of my list. But can I just say how AMAZING that felt!?? No interruptions. No car pools. No one asking for milk or smashing bananas into the carpet. No laundry waiting to be folded. Just me sitting there in my pjs all day long with my Mom and Dad by my side to bounce ideas off of. I crossed off like five big things that have been weighing on my mind for the “I Love Lucy Project” (articles to a few big blogs to help spread the word), I got us all signed up for the Vision Walk next week, and I got sort of prepared for a speech I need to give this weekend.

Dave got to ski in that gorgeous snow, and got some meetings of his own accomplished.

The reason we took the trip was for a dinner Deseret Book put on for all those who published something through them in 2009. It was so fun to meet so many inspiring people there and to just have an evening away with my sweet date.
Michael McLean (songwriter/artist) and his wife were our table-mates:It was so fun to get to know them. (My Dad had to sneak out early for a tennis tournament.)
And is any trip to Utah complete without a run to Hires? I don’t think so. But what’s even more great about the above picture is that Dave actually posed for me. Seriously, I don’t think that has happened for years and years. I think he should do it more often, don’t you?

It snowed SO much. Dave claims he couldn’t wipe the smile off his face when he was skiing in it.

We’re both so rejuvenated. And so thankful. SO thankful.

Especially to come back to our house full of our darlings who were so responsible and well taken care of while we were gone. Thanks from the bottom of our hearts Claudia, Josh and Nana!!

  1. I'm so glad you got to cross off something from the tippy-toppy of your list. Tell Dave his pose is almost as awesome as his Sunday school lessons: he's, like, the best teacher in the west!

The bread was delish, and I appreciate your thoughtfulness:)

  4. and love the post about the queen, I can relate cuz we have a ruler at our house. And he too rules with an iron fist, slap, smack and pulling of hair. But we love him. he is so darn cute, but also so darn opioninated it's scary.

  5. that's awesome! good for you guys!
yOu are inspiring! I think I say that in every post, but it's TRUE!

I am making a blurb book right now and the thing I dont' like is how they have you load your images, I can't see what they are until I click on them and load them to the picture palette, annoying!

  6. Hi Shawni,
I stumbled upon your blog from friends of friends of friends, and I love it. I am currently writing a children's book with plans of submitting it to Deseret Books in hopes of getting it published. Would you have any tips or advice you could share with me that may help in this process?

Anything you could share would be hugely appreciated.

    Thank you,
    Leona
