Ok, now that all that college-drop-off-hoopla-excitement-tears are documented (but far from over…I still can’t go near his room without weeping but it is so fun to talk to him when we can catch him…college is pretty much Heaven on earth so far for that kid!), let’s document a little more of the hoopla going on around here.

One of the most exciting things since school started is that Grace tried out for the freshman cheer team.

…And made it!

She came down with such a horrible cold during the week of clinics to learn all the stuff for actual tryouts, and then on the big day she was still feeling pretty awful, but she went ahead and cheered her little heart out and made that team.

She went through all the nervous emotions leading up to it all and hesitated to try out, but decided to go for it and I’m so proud of her.

She has practices every day after school for a couple hours and is as stiff and sore as can be when she gets home.  Lots of tumbling and workouts on top of some pretty strict coaches and she loves it all.

Last night was her first game (cheering for freshman football).

Can you see the excitement in her face when I was dropping her off?

Apparently it was part of the dress code to wear bright red lipstick tonight…

Claire is very inthralled and can’t wait to try out herself some day.

She was the best cheerleader out there.  And I’m not biased at all 🙂

There are some great girls on the team with her, old and new friends which makes it pretty fun.

Let’s just pretend this next picture is not blurry because I love it.

Her friends came to cheer her on.

 …cuties.

We lost the game but the cheering was on point.  I was pretty impressed with how much they have learned in such a short time.  They were true professionals out there 🙂

It’s going to be a fun season.

…Especially when the weather starts to cool off a little bit…please!

Go Grace!

  1. Congratulations, Grace!!!! I wanted to be a cheerleader so bad. I just did not have the coordination. I'm so excited for you. I just want to jump up and cheer!
