Home vacation The 4th

The 4th

by Shawni

I don’t know that there’s a whole lot better way to spend the 4th of July than in a small town in Idaho at a rodeo followed by fireworks.
Well…I guess on the lawn of the White House when Max was a newborn, or in front of the Lincoln Memorial surrounded by throngs of people with the fireworks reflecting off all the other nation’s memorials with patriotic music blasting through “the Mall”, or on the beach in California, or in the U.S. Virgin Islands on your honeymoon all rank up there pretty darn high too.

BUT, this one sure ranked up in the top five. Especially because we got to be with Dave’s parents and sister’s family up there. What a great time we had.

Lucy sure loved all the action.

Especially when I let her get right up close and personal…a little scary when these babies came by bucking away:You gotta love those rodeo princesses:
…and the calf roping:
…and all the other stuff that goes along with a good old home-town rodeo.

That morning we went to the parade. Now, if you’ve never been to a small town parade, you should try it some time. You’d be surprised at the gleam the kids eyes get over being thrown and having to race for small amounts of salt water taffy and tiny tootsie rolls.
Then we were off to a water park with a carosel…

Then we had a great BBQ and headed off to the rodeo and fireworks.
What a day. What a country. We are so blessed.
