…I can’t keep up!

I have SO much to write about this:

and this:
and this:
and especially this:
(the cake is compliments of Elle and Grace, the chunk taken out of the front is compliments of Lu.)

But I can’t seem to sneak out any time to write about it all because of this:

(The kids about drove me nuts begging and pleading with all their hearts to put up Christmas decorations right when we got home from San Francisco.)…and mostly because of some church stuff…

You see, I was envisioning sitting peacefully around the Christmas tree sipping hot cocoa and letting the spirit of Christmas just wash over us for the rest of the year (yeah, right). And then our ward got realigned while we were out of town for Thanksgiving (they changed the boundaries of the people we go to church with each Sunday). This means we are losing a bunch of my favorite people and also gaining a whole slew of great new ones to get to know. That also means I’m getting kicked in the booty with things that need to be done in Young Women (where I get to work with the youth) along with visiting the new girls, mourning over losing our old girls and leaders, dropping off thank you’s to everyone, etc.

Anyway, blah blah blah, I’ll be back soon 🙂

  1. Hi Shawni! You were in my city! I live 10 minutes north of the Golden Gate. I hope you were here long enough for the beautiful weather we had over the weekend.

We have taken many Christmas card photo's in front of that gorgeous bridge. To this day, I never tire of that view 🙂

I do love that you were all dressed appropriately for the bay area. I see so many people that come here dressed in shorts thinking our weather is Southern Cali weather 🙂 It can get pretty cold here especially with the fog!

  2. Dear Shawni,

I am a 13 year old girl from France.

I love the church and it's teachings. I know it is true. Problem: my parents are against it. I won't be able to be baptized until I am 18 years old so I do my own kind of church on Sundays (since I can't attend): I read conference talk and do sunday school and young women lessons.

I teach myself but it's hard. It simply isn't the same than being taught in a class by a leader who has experience and that can answer my questions.

I do my best everyday. I have recently started the Old Testament seminary course which I love to help me apply the scriptures to my life.

The biggest challenge was to start my personal progress. It is challenging but it teaches me SO much. I have been validating tasks myself thought.

I cannot believe how much I love the Gospel. But I need help to stay on the path to rightousness to return to my Father in Heaven one day.

My biggest dream isn't to get the new Ipod or to get to Disneyland but to be baptized and confirmed and be married in the Lord's Temple.

I know I have to work hard to concentrate on my goals to return to my Savior but I need some help because I'm afraid I will get tempted to choose the wrong (and not the right..).

I am so sorry to bother you as I see that you have a busy life but I am wondering if you could help me because you are my inspiration and I wish to become like you. To be genuily kind and full of the spirit of God and the love of the Savior.

I admire you with all my heart and soul and I wish you a good day.

Thank you for all your words of wisdom,

    Ségolène from Geneva (Switzerland)

  3. I feel your pain with the ward realignments! we are due for more this spring as a new chapel is being built in our area. I fear we will lose some good friends too. 🙁 Nice pictures–can't wait to read about your adventures. Merry Christmas!

  4. I hate the feeling of having so much to write and not enough time. I really respect your setting a specific time limit so you can be where you need to yet also record these important life moments. Best of luck with your new YW! Hope you get some hot chocolate tonight.

  5. OK, the ward split is a tough apple to swallow, But now that I've read Ségolène's, from Geneva, response to your post, I've put things into perspective. There are some things that are way more important to worry about.

Elle and Hannah need to start a "Life" for Young Women blog…

    I LOVE YOU!!!

  6. Shawni,

I just cried as I read Segolene's comment. That is so beautiful and precious! I would love to reach out to her. Let me know if you do.

Good luck with the changes. Change is soo hard, but so many blessings come from it.

Missed you last night. I hope your hubby had a great birthday!
