things we pass down

by Shawni
Growing up, Santa always seemed to be quite cold when he wrote us notes on Christmas.
His handwriting was all squiggly and jiggly supposedly from his shivers.

I don’t have any of his notes, but that same Santa wrote MY kids a few notes in years past.  Here’s one of them:

(I think he wrote a similar note to all the grandkids…)

It’s funny how now that I have kids, Santa does the same thing.
Every year.

So my heart melted when I found this note from one of our Christmas season “Secret Santa’s Helpers” to another:

If those “shakey” letters are so passed down from one generation to the next, it makes me think about all the other things I must be passing down to these children of mine.  The little things and the big things.

I sure hope they’ll remember and emulate the good at least a little more than the huffy bad 🙂

Can I just say that I love your family? The example your parents set for you is amazing, and it sure seems like you and Dave are emulating that to a tee. 🙂

You and Dave are the definition of deliberate parents. A wonderful example to me and all the other parents out in cyber space. THANK YOU!!!

Love this, very Tolkien! Check out "Letters from Father Christmas" it's a favourite around my house during the Holidays!

That is so cute! There are things I do now that were passed down from my grandparents. Now that my grandpa is gone, I love having a little piece of him with me. : )
