A couple weeks ago I joined up with all my fellow cellists (most of whom were a couple feet shorter than me) for our Christmas cello recital.

At first I sat there in the audience wondering if there might be any way I could just sneak out and never come back.

But I stayed.

And I played that song I really have practiced my heart out for. Plus a couple numbers with a few of us playing together.

Oh my fingers were shaking like nobody’s business.

But it felt a little triumphant to get through it.

Dave missed the picture, as did my patient and awesome cello teacher, but so grateful for people who cheer me on.

Even when it doesn’t seem like there’s all that much hope in my progression.

Ha!

I really am getting better, bit by bit. But man alive, I have a deep appreciation for cellists!
