Seriously, Dave and I thanked our lucky stars over and over again while we were gone to NIH that our kids were in such good hands.

First they got to sleep over at friends houses for one night. Oh man, I’m SO thankful for good friends who are willing to run our kids all over kingdom come when we can’t, and let them sleep over on a school night. (Especially thankful that family C & G stayed with still loves them even after Claire decided to throw little beanbags at Grace during that family’s scripture reading…hmmm…need to have a little lesson on manners around here.)

And then my sister arrived.

She is so much more organized than I am…I wish I could hire her to just come and get me situated around here. I mean, check out her schedule she reworked from the pages and pages I left with instructions for her:
She didn’t bat an eye at getting to and from across town, hosting extra kids at our house, making great meals, and keeping things spic and span around here.

But MUCH more importantly, she treats my kids like they are the apples of her eye. They can feel her love for each of them oozing out like nobody’s business.

There’s not much that feels better than having someone else love your kids almost as much as you do.

And they love her right back.

Thank you, thank you, thank you from all of us, dear Charity!!

  1. My husband and I recently went to NYC for a week. Farmed out the 4 kids with friends and grandma for the first few days, then they all stayed with my mom (other grandma) and sister for the last 4 days. They had a blast and my sister adores the kids as yours does (she has no kids of her own). Sisters are the BEST!
