This week as my heart started racing in anticipation of Christmas coming up so quickly, my brother reminded me of some words in the Christmas carol, “Oh Holy Night.” (Oh how I love him…and all my brothers!)

These particular words resonated with me so much that I got all teary:

“A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,

for yonder breaks a new and glorious morn.”

How grateful I am for the opportunity to join together in our “weary [pandemic-striken] world” and rejoice as we celebrate the “new and glorious morn”…the birth of our Savior. The One who has provided an opportunity for each of us to have our own “new and glorious morns” as we strive to become more like Him.

An instagram follower sent me a screenshot of this beautiful painting and I thought it went so beautifully with those words, especially in the wake of thinking so much about angels lately (back HERE).

I love the thought of those angels rejoicing in the glory of what the birth of a tiny baby would mean to the world.

for more info. on this painting see @elliewilsonart, she is so talented!

May we, as “Oh Holy Night” echoes in the chorus, “Fall on [our] knees! Oh, hear the angel voices.”

May our hearts be calmed as we remember the true meaning of this season.

May we stop and look into the eyes of our loved ones more often.

May we slow down to whisper a prayer of thanks.

May we dig deeper as we seek to understand those who we come across who are coming at life from such different angles as we are.

May we forgive someone who has wronged us.

May our hearts be humbled enough to say we’re sorry.

May we reach out and be angels to one another as we, the “weary world,” prepares to rejoice in celebration of that “new and glorious morn.”

xoxo

  1. I am currently alone in quarantine and this was exactly what I needed to read. I am weary, and now I am also rejoicing.

  2. This song (and those same words!) resonated with me as well this past weekend… so much so that I wrote them on our chalkboard (that I bought years ago inspired by you! 🙂 Thanks for your light!
