I’m always on the look-out for good ideas to whip up fancy food. I mean, sometimes you just want to offer something that’s not only tasty but beautiful. I texted my sisters for sandwich recipe ideas when I was trying to figure out food for Abby’s “Mother’s Blessing” baby shower and my sister Charity sent me what I’d like to call the best fancy sandwich recipe for bridal/baby showers.
Ha!
But really, it’s so good I just made it for myself for lunch the other day and oh boy, it hit the spot.
And the great thing is that these are so easy to make! You just need these ingredients:
I’ll be honest here and say I’ve never actually tried salame before in all my life. I like to pride myself that I will try just about anything. But salami? No thank you. Yep, all those charcuterie boards filled with meats that everyone raves about?
I can’t do those.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that I can’t do hot dogs either. I haven’t had one of those since Orange Julius in the mall when I was in 8th grade. But are hot dogs and salami even in the same galaxy? I don’t know. But I do know I sure must have trusted my sister that she knew her stuff to take that first bite.
Ok, and that is quite a good digression. Let me tell you how to make these beauties:
A recipe for beautiful sandwiches
perfect for bridal/baby showers
(and also just lunch:)
Ingredients:
- baguette bread (I love the skinny baguettes you can get at Costco)
- salame (since I’m very far from an expert at this, I don’t know a particular kind, but Charity says any kind will do)
- brie cheese
- apple (apple in a sandwich to add a perfect crunch? yes please!)
- dijon mustard (I love the whole grain kind from Trader Joes)
- arugula (my favorite green in all the world)
- honey
Ok, so all you do is slice the bread down the middle and spread a thin layer of dijon mustard.
Add salami, brie (it’s so soft so it doesn’t look so pretty right off the bat):
Then add thinly sliced apple, arugula and drizzle some honey on top.
Fold that bread back together and Voila!
There you have it, the tastiest, pretty sandwich you’ll ever want to have for lunch.
Enjoy!
Thank you Char for teaching me the ways to love salame.
I may start to like charcuterie boards after all!

Nice sharing dear
This looks lovely.
Even I would like the salami & I’m a really fussy eater.
The bread looks like one that they sell here in the UK at a supermarket called Waitrose. Great quality food.
Did you toast the baguette?
Nope but I bet that would be good!
